5 Date ideas during isolation!

I know its tough spending 24hours for 28 days locked in the same house/room as your significant other so I thought id share some easy date ideas that you can do at home! This is a fun way not only to break up your day but also spend some quality time together, just like you would on your days off, without social media or the news joining you.

Number 1 –

Picnic. With the weather being nice outside and knowing we cant venture to the beach, it doesn’t say we cant grab out beach towels and set up camp outside with a picnic. Sure there might not be the dip in the sea to make the day but spending time outside, in the sun with good food and company is just as good. If you don’t have an outside area(I know apartment living can be tough in these circumstances) Theres nothing stopping you having a picnic inside. I have fond memories of my childhood setting up a blanket in the living room and waiting for my father to come back with takeout for our Saturday nights in front of the TV. So grab a blanket and set up camp. If you want to spice up the picnic you can also add my next tip.

Number 2 –

During our picnic date we added a good old game of monopoly knowing it would kill us at least 3 hours. Now you can either add this to your picnic too to make the ultimate date idea, or you can plan a board game day. Or hour, depending on your vibe. There’s nothing like a bit of friendly competition with your other half who are both stuck inside for at least another two weeks…

Number 3 -

Movie days! With Disney+ being released, I think everywhere now. Nothing beats a movie day. I’ve been wanting to spend a whole day in bed watching movies for ages now, but It always felt like a waste of a day off. Now with everyday looking the same it was the perfect time to clench that craving and it felt good. We downloaded Disney+ watched two movies in bed with popcorn, moved to the living room to proceed making home made pizza before watching another two movies to end the night. I thought watching movies continuously would be exhausting but I thoroughly enjoyed it. So use this time of just existing and watch all those pirates of the Caribbean back to back, or maybe you finally want to do an Avengers marathon. Add your partner, it’s a date.

Number 4 –

A romantic dinner for 2 in… your own dinning room.
We all love going our for a drink and dinner, so who says you cant recreate it at home? Whether its you and your partner cooking together, maybe ones on mains, the other on desserts? Or you just want to spoil your other half. Cook up a storm, set the table, light a candle, pour them their favourite drink and wine and dine your favourite isolation partner with something a little classier than your standard dinner. Maybe you both dress up as if you were going out. Maybe after dinner you turn down the lights and turn up the music, suddenly your at your favourite club. Now is the time to let our creativity shine and run wild.

Number 5 –

As we are sparking on our creativity its time we unleash our inner child, we used to find such fun in such simple things so grab a blanket and start pitching the perfect place to build a fort. I know some of these sound stupid but honestly, during these times all we need is a little laugh in our days to lighten our mood. It can be hard isolating with someone and also finding the balance between time alone, and time with your partner. Its time we all started acting like kids, grab your colouring books and fairy lights, jump inside your fort. Maybe you’re a Netflix and chill kinda couple, grab your tablet and get inside your fort! Or maybe build it round your TV? Either way its going to be awesome because you had fun doing it with your other half.

I hope you can find some joy during these times, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself. So what if everyone on your social media is working out everyday, maybe that isn’t your jam. That’s fine!
Maybe everyone’s cooking up delish foods on their feed and your still eating toast because the supermarket is too stressful at these times and your still trying to build up the mentality to go.
Just because everyone is running past you on your stroll around your neighbourhood doesn’t mean you have to be running too.
Do you.
Don’t worry about others, just appreciate that they too are doing them.
