Easter Treats!

I know during this weird time a lot of people have been ‘cancelling Easter’

Which I can see why. There’s no two days off, no public holiday pay, no long weekend for some, no Easter eggs to buy or time to buy them. However for someone who likes to celebrate despite not having any kids and being a 24year old adult I wasn’t letting the fact we’re on lockdown ruin my Easter spirit and neither should you.
Especially if you have a little one at home I have the perfect activity to put a bit of spring in your day and create a little Easter magic using a lot of items that you’ll have in the cupboard.

Easter nests! Perfect for all year round, but extra yummy at Easter.

Grab your cornflakes, or rice krispies
A bar of chocolate
Golden Syrup
Butter
(Optional mini eggs for decoration)

Now this is something that your child can do by themselves after you’ve melted the chocolate (we don’t want them burning themselves) which adds even more fun to this Easter activity.
I don’t have a general method to making these, which to me makes it all the fun. Melt the chocolate with the butter, squirt in some golden syrup there if you’d like, if not take off the heat once melted together, stir in your cornflakes, add syrup here if you’d like. Add decoration if you’d wish and pop in the fridge to set. Shortly after resist the temptation to eat all in one sitting, and enjoy your Easter spirit!
Its super easy, super quick and super tasty!

Its important during these uncertain times that we do the little things to keep our days interesting and to put a smile on our faces. My partner loves these and I love how simple they are to make, and quick. So I happily oblige. I like the fact that I can wing it how I want without following a step by step if I don’t want to. Sometimes rules take the fun out of baking so I like to mix it up.

Let me know if you have different methods to the Easter nests that I can try too!
