His chair.

For he sat in his chair
without much care for the world.
Giving his orders for tea, and
more biscuits
he required.

he didn’t do much walking,
not anymore you see.
For confidence at any age,
can disappear so suddenly.

He had company to one side of him,
his papers too.
and was often found with a jigsaw or two.

helping find the pieces he would always say you were better.
for he would admire anything they did
he didn’t say a lot,
and when he did you had to listen.
For his words spoke truth and wisdom.
He was one to complain.
and a smile was rare.

But to me he was always great,
and I refuse to sit in his chair.

For the world takes those around us,
that we never really want to go.
For your placemat still sits,
in front of your seat.

‘The greatest grandad in the worlds cup of tea’
The words so true,
maybe not the last part anymore.

But its still something you can never ignore.
